Agisoft Metashape 1.5.0 – der “Nachfolger” von Agisoft Photoscan im pre-release

Agisoft legt die beliebte Photogrammetrie-Software "Agisoft Photoscan" unter dem Namen "Metashape" neu auf. Dabei handelt es sich nicht um eine Revolution sondern viel mehr um eine Weiterentwicklung und Namensänderung. Die pre-release Version von "Metashape 1.5.0" kann unter folgendem link abgerufen werden: Agisoft Metashape 1.5.0 Metashape wird (wie Agisoft bisher auch) in einer Standard und einer Professionell-Edition angeboten und enthält alle bekannten Features von Agisoft Photoscan sowie einige interessante neue Funktionen (z.B. automatische Klassifikation der Punktwolke). Offiziell wird Metashape erst Ende 2018 veröffentlicht. Agisoft Photoscan-Nutzer können (wie immer problemlos) von Ihrer Standard- oder Professionell-Edition kostenfrei zu Metashape updaten. Aligning turntable photos with a single mask in Agisoft Photoscan Pro

Agisoft introduces a new alignment parameter ("Apply masks to Key/Tie points"), which was added in PhotoScan 1.4.1. It can be used to align turntable photos with background suppression using a single mask. If Apply masks to Key points selected - masked areas are excluded from feature detection procedure independently for each photo. This behavior is equal to old Constrain features by mask parameter that was in PhotoScan 1.4.0 and older versions. If Apply masks to Tie points selected - certain tie points are excluded from alignment procedure. Effectively this implies that if some area is masked at least on a single photo, relevant key points on the rest of the photos picturing the same area will be also ignored during alignment procedure (a tie point is a set of key points which have been matched as projections of the same 3D point on different images). New model reconstruction method with volumetric masking in Agisoft PhotoScan

The new tutorial on the Agisoft Homepage introduces a new reconstruction method, which is able to handle thin structures like butterfly wings and illustrates how to enhance results with new strict volumetric masking feature. With strict volumetric masking, applying a single mask can be enough. In previous versions of the software, polygonal model reconstruction required dense cloud data, and in some cases user faced the necessity to manually remove noise from the dense cloud, or to mask nearly all images before building dense cloud. Agisoft Photoscan Update Version 1.4.1 build 5925 (26 February 2018)

Agisoft recently released the latest update for Agisoft Photoscan Pro on 26th February 2018.  Features like Micasense & Sequoia Multispectral Sensoer support, customizable palette for DEM's, JPEG2000 image format support were added. Also it is now possible to merge models and denseclouds if they are located in the same chunk! Note: Since Version 1.4.0 build 5420 (27 November 2017) it is possible to import pointclouds into the software from other sources (f.e. Photogrammetry Software Review: Remake VS. Photoscan VS. Reality Capture VS. Zephyr

  Nick Lievendag from 3dscanexpert.com wrote a nice review of different photogrammetry software that is currently on the market. The review is covering four different solutions: ReMake from Autodesk (USA), Agisoft Photoscan from Agisoft based in Russia, Reality Capture from Capturing Reality based in Bratislava/Slovakia, and 3DF Zephyr from the Italian-based company 3DFlow. The first test is to find out which software can produce the best results in 15 Minutes (using the same input datasets). Interesting results - in my opinion we definetly should keep an eye on Reality Capture. Their algorythms promise to make enormous computing power less important, which seems to work quiet well.  3dscanexpert.com is also providing detailed reviews of the different software solutions for those who can't decide what to use. Unfortunately Pix4D (or Esri's Drone2Map) and Betley's Context Capture was not part of the review, which would have been quiet interesting.
